What is latex and how long does a latex mattress last?
Latex is a very high density durable product, offering outstanding support due to its high density construction. Our Natural Latex mattresses are covered by a 10 year guarantee and are made from environmentally friendly components to offer a unique sleeping experience.

Remember to also consider memory foam and other premium foams to determine the best product for your sleeping comfort. Visit one of our stores and ask our friendly staff for more information on the different comfort options available exclusively through Sleep City.
Does Latex get hot?
In the past the composition of latex did retain some heat, however the construction of latex now is very different. Natural Latex is now made with small air particles allowing the product to breath, which in turn eliminates heat. Modern day natural latex is now constructed with perforated holes which further improve the breathability of latex. All latex used by Sleep City is made from 100% natural latex. The latex meets international ‘Eco Institute’ standards and does not contain additives or chemicals found in inferior quality latex.
How strong are the sides of your mattresses?
Quality mattress stitching is essential to prevent materials shifting around and maximise the sleeping surface of the mattress. All our mattresses are constructed using only premium quality materials. Our spring systems are built with tempered steel and include double hinged mechanical edge supports. These supports reinforce the perimeter of the spring system to minimise roll off.

Most manufacturers use six (6) mechanical edge supports in a queen size mattress – but at Sleep City, our queen size mattress features 14!
My new mattress is showing body impressions, is this normal?
Body Impressions are considered normal for any new mattress. In fact, body impressions are a good sign that your mattress is confirming to your individual body type.
Do I need to rotate my new mattress?
Turning and rotating a mattress is essential to maintain the guarantee of the mattress and ensure maximum life.
By turning and rotating a mattress you are helping to ensure even wear of the mattress on both sides of the mattress. Like rotating the tyres on your car this can help to prolong the life of the product and maintain the guarantee.
What is the easiest way to turn and rotate a mattress?
Turning or rotating a mattress can be hazardous, due to the size and weight of a mattress. As such we strongly recommend that no less than 2 people assist in this process.

If your new mattress features "No Turn Technology", you only need to rotate your mattress on a regular basis. All double-sided mattresses should be periodically flipped and rotated. As a guide, we suggest rotating or flipping your mattress every two (2) weeks for the first 3 months and then monthly thereafter. This will ensure the longest possible life of the mattress, maintain the guarantee and also ensure even wear with minimal body impressions.
What is the advantage of a pillow top?
Pillow top mattresses provide additional support and comfort in the top layers of the mattress. Pillow-tops are common in premium mattresses and there are different styles of pillow tops available. Always check the quality of the foams and fibres used in the pillow top to ensure the maximum comfort, support and durability you require.
My new mattress feels different to the one I saw in the store, is this normal?
Just like a new pair of shoes, a new mattress will conform to your body over time as you use it. Mattresses, which may contain a combination of foam, fibre, wool and latex, will lose a percentage of their height and firmness in the first 3 months of use.

We recommend up to 3 weeks for both a mattress to settle and for the body to get used to the new levels of comfort and support in your new mattress. It’s also important to remember going from a 10+ year old mattress to a brand new high quality mattress will feel different and that this is completely normal!
How long does a mattress generally last?
Over time all mattresses will lose a small amount of support and comfort as materials, foams and fillers become used, this gradual loss of comfort and support is not a manufacturing fault.  To maximise the life of your mattress you must carefully follow the care instructions provided. Flipping, rotating and regularly cleaning your mattress are essential.

A well maintained, good quality mattress will last for 10-15 years however we recommend you upgrade your mattress every 7-10 years to ensure the best possible support and comfort for your body.  Most mattresses in our product range offer a 10 year guarantee; ask one of our friendly staff for more information.
